Ruth Ellen Bennett was born on February 9, 1911, in Red Rock Township, Marion County, Iowa, and departed this life on Monday August 2, 1937 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton, following the birth of a son. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bennett, now of near Knoxville. She was united in marriage to Clifton William Shaffer on February 9, 1929 and to this union were born four sons, Larry, Lowell, Lyle and an infant son three days old.
Immediate relatives who survive her are her husband and sons, her parents, 1 sister, three brothers and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held from the Morgan Funeral home in Newton on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial was in the Monroe Cemetery.
