Services Held
Services for O. K. Scott were held Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Rev. Joel Brummel officiated the services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
O. K. Scott passed away Sunday, December 17, 2000, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
O. K. Scott was born in Chucky, Tennessee, April 15, 1920, the son of Othea Thomas and Fanny Lucky (Morelock) Scott. He moved to Iowa sixty years ago. He had lived in the Colfax, Newton and Oskaloosa areas, coming to Prairie City ten years ago. He was a truck owner/operator and in 1974, founded Oskaloosa Truck and Trailer. He retired in 1987.
On April 23, 1940, he was united in marriage to Helen Williams at Gate City, Virginia. She preceded him in death in 1949. He was married to Emma R. Burnside August 26, 1950 at Platte City, Missouri.
Surviving is his wife, Emma, a son and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Shirley Cade, Prairie City, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: O. T. Scott of Newton and Kyle Scott, Chucky, Tennessee, and eight nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Helen, and his parents. A memorial for the Prairie City Emergency Unit has been designated by the family.
