Special to The Daily News
Monroe, Ia. Sept. 27 - Dorsey Scott, Monroe pioneer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jake Den Hoedt, Wednesday evening after a short illness due to old age and general infirmities.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
The deceased was born in Ohio Jan. 8, 1835, and had he lived until next January would have been 90 years old.
He came to Iowa with his parents when he was six years old. On the way west the family camped on the site where the town of Pella now stands. Locating near Otley the family took up farming and for years Dorsey Scott drove hogs to the river market at Keokuk and returned with flour.
For the past several years he has made his home with his daughter in Monroe.
