Services to be Held
Helen Snook Schwarz died Sunday, Dec. 18 in Mesa, Ariz., of complications following surgery performed after she was injured in a bicycle accident Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Brown, pastor of the church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, Floyd; a son, Robert Van Maaren of Rt. 1, Monroe; a daughter, Marlys (Mrs. Steve) Munson of Monroe; a stepson Ron Schwarz of Lafayette, La.; a stepdaughter, Beth (Mrs. Rick) Spilly of Newton; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Snook of Newton; two brothers, Robert Snook of Chesterfield, Mo.; Burton E. of Newton and two sisters, Wanda (Mrs. Les) Gearhart of Newton and Dorothy (Mrs. Delmar) Van Horn of Jefferson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Van Maaren in 1977.
The daughter of Bert and Henrietta Jess Snook, she was born Feb. 23, 1921 in Newton.
She was married to Floyd Schwarz Aug. 1, 1985 in Newton.
