Services held
Services for James Fred Schutte were held Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Timothy Peter, Pastor of the Prairie City Church of the Brethren officiated the services. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Newton.
James passed away Sunday morning, March 20, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
He was born August 9, 1914 in Spencer, South Dakota, the son of John Fred and Adah Eleanor Woody Schutte. He lived in Jasper County since 1934. January 29, 1936, he married Lucille Frances Clausen in Newton. James farmed all his life and did some carpentry and butchering for others.
Survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law, Norman J. and LaRae Schutte of Newton and Dean and Pat Schutte of Newton; 4 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Ruth Montgomery of Newton, and a brother Ray and Grace Schutte of Kellogg, Iowa as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; great-grandson, David; grandson-in-law, Wayne, and sister, Mabel.
