Services Held
Lester Towner Schmitt, 85, of Colfax, a longtime resident of the Monroe and Reasnor community, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1985, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Eldon Nolte, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Colfax conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, and two sisters.
The son of Philip and Minnie Steinhilber Schmitt, he was born Nov. 15, 1899 near Colfax.
He was married to Augusta Hummel in February 1941 in Des Moines.
