Life Story of Jessie Schippers
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, at the Otley Reformed Church for Jessie Dena Schippers with Rev. Frank Snutjer, minister of the church, officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Mrs. Donald DeReus was organist. Casket bearers were Clarence Meyers, Ernest Simpson, Harold Beyer, Fred Baarda, Willis Nearmyer, and Duane Van Haaften.
Jessie, Mrs. Arnold M. Schippers, passed away at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines June 14 at the age of 66 years, seven months, and 15 days.
Jessie was born in Dunreath on October 29, 1904, the daughter of Gerrit and Jennie Weyers Vande Kieft. She was united in marriage to Arnold M. Schippers on December 2, 1926 at Otley.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold M. Schippers; their four children, Mrs. Harold (Arlene) Ferguson of Knoxville; Deverne of Monroe, Wayne of Monroe and Gary of Prairie City; her mother, Mrs. Jennie Vande Kieft of Pella; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard of Des Moines and Dick of Newton; and two sisters, Mable Berg of Melcher and Verna Van Zante of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerrit Vande Kieft.
Mrs. Schippers was a member of the Otley Reformed Church and lived all of her life in the Pella-Monroe Area.
