Joseph B. “Bert” Scarbrough, 64, of Battle Creek, Mich., a former resident of Newton and Kellogg, died Thursday, Aug. 22 at his home.
A memorial service will be held today (Thursday, Aug. 29) at 11 a.m. at the Pleasantville United Methodist church near Kellogg. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Battle Creek. Burial with military honors will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Mr. Scarbrough was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Jasper County, the son of Howard and Gladys McCausland Scarbrough. He was a graduate of Newton High School and Iowa State University in Ames.
He was married Sept. 8, 1962 in Jones county, Iowa, to Glenda J. Guhl.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark E. of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Matthew E. of Battle Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Carrie L. Scarbrough of Kansas City, Kans.; a grandson and his mother, Gladys, of Newton.
Also surviving are five sisters, Jean Meyers of Kellogg, Shirley Schmidt of Baxter, Evelyn Patterson of Spokane, Wash., Elaine Eytchison of Indianapolis, Ind. and Donna Probasco of Grinnell.
