Funeral Held for Ira Scarbrough
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 6 at 3 o’clock for Ira M. Scarbrough. The Rev. Russell Nye conducted services. Interment was in Monroe cemetery.
Ira M. Scarbrough son of Orrin L. Scarbrough and Blanche Mason Scarbrough. Born on a farm north of Monroe, Iowa, May 13, 1885. At the time of his death he was 66 years, 8 months and 21 days old.
He departed from this earth Sunday evening, Feb. 3, 1952 at Skiff Memorial hospital at Newton.
He spent his entire life in the vicinity of Monroe and united with the Methodist church when quite young and remained a member all of his life. His entire life was devoted to his wife, family and church and to the host of neighbors and friends. To know him was to love him.
On January 14, 1907, he was married to Maude Thomason of Monroe at Prairie City.
He leaves besides his wife, Maude, five children, three boys and two girls, Floyd M., Los Angeles, Calif., Rex O., Elburn, Ill., Gene R. U.S. Air Force, Mrs. Clare McCauley (Joy), Monroe, and Mrs. Frank Matthews (Nina), San Diego, Calif. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
