Death of Mother Gilbert
Yesterday, January 19, at 3 o'clock, Mrs. William Gilbert peacefully departed this life. The funeral services were conducted this, Friday, p.m. at 1 o'clock, from the family residence, by Rev. J. R. Anderson. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery west of town (Westview). Mother Gilbert came to Prairie City with her husband, in 1865. Her's has been a life of earnest toil and Christian living. Her example and influence has moulded the lives of a large family of children into ways of usefulness and made them honored citizens and members of society. She leaves to them a rich legacy in her memory. Many friends who knew Mother Gilbert will join the relatives in their sorrow.
