The Obituary of Mrs. Alden Gilbert
Lua Elizabeth Blain was born in Marion county, near Knoxville, Iowa, July 12, 1883, the daughter of John and Sarah Blain.
She attended schools in Colfax and Prairie City, Iowa. In 1904 she was married to Alden Gilbert of Prairie City. They moved to Truro, Iowa, and from there they came to Freeborn county in the spring of 1918.

The four children of the family are Harold and Myron, at home; Paul of Freeborn; and Mrs. Leon and (Elsie) Miller of La Crescent, Minn.
After an illness of five weeks and an operation for a gall ailment Mrs. Gilbert passed away Thursday, Jan 8, at 3:45 a.m. at the Naeve hospital in Albert Lea.

Surviving are her husband and four children; two brothers, William Blain of Osceola, Iowa; and James Blain of Boulder, Colo; one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Jackson of Prairie City, Iowa.
There are also four grandchildren; Mary Jane, Alvin, Harold and Ervin Frank Miller, and David Paul Gilbert.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan 16, at 2pm at the Freeborn Congregational church. Rev. Chas. A. Pobanz officiated. Interment was in the Freeborn cemetery.
