Henry Byal Funeral This Afternoon
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Methodist church in Mingo for Henry Byal who died of a heart ailment Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines.
The Rev. B. H. Finch will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Chapel cemetery west of Ira. The Boyd funeral directors of Baxter have charge of arrangements.
Mr. Byal entered the hospital two days before he passed away following a heart attack and was believed to be convalescing until a few hours preceding his death when he suffered a second attack.
Masonic rites will be conducted by Unit lodge No. 520 A.F. & A.M. of Baxter. Mr. Byal was the oldest member raised in the local lodge.
Native of Ohio
A native of Ohio, he was born Sept. 18, 1860 at Findley and came to Clear Creek township, Jasper county, Iowa, when about three years old, at the time of his death he was 84 years, 5 months and 25 days old.
In 1901 he was married to Martha Rippey, who with six children, survives. The children are Margaret who teaches school, Marjorie at home, Mrs. Dan Phelan of McCallsburg, Denver and Stanley, both of Collins and Roger, who is with the army in the South Pacific Theatre of operations. Also surviving are six grandchildren and a brother, William, of Colfax. Two sisters, one brother and his parents preceded him in death.
