Life Story of Glen Ryther
Glenn Ryther, 70, a resident of Newton for three years and a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Monday morning at Skiff Hospital following a heart attack suffered at the Newton Feed Store where he had been employed for three years.
Funeral services were held at Loehr Funeral Chapel in Newton Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. James Stiles, pastor of the Killduff United Methodist Church, conducted the services.
Burial was in Hewitt Cemetery. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by the Galesburg Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Ida; a son, Wayne Ryther of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Glenna May Bryant of Fayetteville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Everette Ryther of Springfield, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a grandson.
Mr. Ryther was a member of the Reasnor United Methodist Church and the Galesburg Masonic Lodge.
He had farmed in the Mount Zion area for 20 years and the Reasnor area for 22 years.
The son of James and Mary Eldredge Ryther, he was born November 26, 1900, at Kirksville, Mo., and attended Kirksville schools.
He was married to Ida Mick December 19, 1928 at Killduff.
