Services Wednesday for Mrs. Rutter
Funeral services were held at the Crumpacker Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon April 24th, for Mrs. Minnie Rutter, Monroe resident for many years, who died at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton on Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock, following a prolonged illness.
Minnie Dix Rutter was born in Pella, Iowa on October 13th, 1867 and departed from this earth on April 21st, 1940 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton at the age of 72. She was the daughter of George J. Dix and Isabel Dix, and with her parents moved to Monroe when she was but a few weeks old. She was graduated from the public school of Monroe, and lived here until her marriage to Chas. O. Rutter on October 18th, 1888. She then went to Boulder, Colorado to live. Three sons were born to this union, George, who died in infancy, Charles, who resides in Seattle, Washington, and Frank J. of Chicago, Illinois.
After residing in Colorado for many years she returned to Iowa to care for her aging mother, Mrs. G. J. Dix.
Early in life she became a member of the United Presbyterian Church in which she was active until her death. She also was a member of the Monroe Chapter P.E.O. and had been a member of the Monroe Woman’s Club.
The latter part of her life had been spent more or less in traveling between Monroe and California.
Besides her two sons and their families, she is survived by her sister, Mrs. Alice Snoke, and her niece, Mrs. Isabel Wright of Newton.
Dr. W. A. Stevenson, minister of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, had charge of the services. Interment was in the Monroe Cemetery.
