Services Held
Services for Norma K. Russell were held Monday, September 19, 2005, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Dr. Marvin Potter of Newton officiated the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Norma passed away Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton at the age of 90.
Memorials may be left to the United Presbyterian Church Sunday Morning Worship Radio Broadcasts. They may be left at the funeral home.
Born August 3, 1915, in Tama County, Iowa, Norma was the daughter of Otto Peter and Hertha (Harmsen) Thaden. She lived in Lincoln and Gladbrook, Iowa from 1915 to 1952 and has lived in Newton since 1952. She married Richard E. Russell August 10, 1952, in Gladbrook, Iowa. Norma was a homemaker and belonged to the United Presbyterian Church and TOPS.
Survivors are her husband, Richard of Newton; a son, Gary (Joyce) Russell of Newton; a daughter, Kathy (Dan) Masterson of Monroe; a stepdaughter, Karla Deppe of Grinnell; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Ude Thaden of Marshalltown, Iowa and a sister, Alice Morton of San Diego, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Whitney Russell; 3 brothers, Clarence, Lester, and Werner Thaden; and her sister, Bernice Dostal.
