Life Story of Earl Runyan
Earl Runyan, 55, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Monroe, died Friday at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Rev. James V. Poulsen, pastor of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, officiated. Burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Among survivors are his widow, Oletha; a son, Robert of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Merritt (Janice) Van Roekel of Monroe and Mrs. Dennis (Lana) Richardson of North Liberty; five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lena Runyan of Colfax; and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Pickles of Colfax and Mrs. Gladys Teslik of Clear Lake.
Mr. Runyan was preceded in death by his father and four brothers.
Associated with Pfister Associated Growers, Inc. for 28 years, Mr. Runyan was born August 7, 1915, in Jasper County to Lanar and Lena (Henderson) Runyan. He was married to Oletha B. Emmack, June 12, 1937, in Marshalltown.
Memorials will be accepted for the Monroe United Methodist Church, of which Mr. Runyan was a member.
