A. D. Romans Buried At Monroe Today
A. D. Romans, who died suddenly in Des Moines Thursday, was well known in the vicinity of Galesburg. He resided there at the outbreak of the Civil War and enlisted in Company B, Fifth Iowa Infantry, formerly known as the Jasper county “Grays”. He served through the war and at the end of his three-year term he was given an honorable discharge. He was in the battle of Iuka, Missionary Ridge, Vicksburg, and many other important engagements. After being discharged from the army he returned to Galesburg for a time and afterwards went out west as a prospective miner.
Mr. Romans is survived by seven children, Mrs. D. A. Carney, Newton; Wallace Romans, Des Moines; Frank Romans, Mitchellville; Mrs. Jesse Butin, Reasnor; Mrs. Laura Efnor, Newton; Clyde Romans, Reasnor; and Bert Romans, of Galesburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at Monroe.
