Funeral services for Larry Dean Robson, 59, of 1097 S. 52nd Ave. E. in Newton, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Community Reformed Church of Newton with the Rev. DuWayne Hanke, pastor of the church, officiating.
Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 8 a.m. Thursday. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Mr. Robson died of cancer Tuesday, March 25 at Skiff Medical Center.
Memorials will be accepted in Mr. Robson’s name.
The son of Elmer and Mary Ellen (Blanford) Robson, he was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Newton. He was a graduate of East Waterloo High School and the University of Maryland.
He married Lelah J. DeHaai Oct. 13, 1958, in Bethany, Mo.
A longtime resident of Newton, he moved to Waterloo at the age of 2 and returned to Newton in 1966. He was employed by the Maytag Company in the automatic assembly dryer department, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Robson was a veteran of the United States Air Force at the conclusion of the Korean Conflict and beginning of the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Community Reformed Church; V.F.W. Post No. 1655; American Legion Post No. 111; the Masonic Lodge at Attica; the Mid-Iowa Driving Association; a life member of the DAV; and a life member of the 40-8 club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick of Washingt6on, and Ray of Newton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carrie Verburg of Indianapolis, Ind., and Janice and Rafael Gonzalez of Newton; his parents of Aplington; five grandchildren; a brother, Tim of Aplington; a sister, Linda DeWitt of Des Moines; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Lavern Nearmyer of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.
