Fred Jackson Roberts was born at Fairmount, Iowa, in 1869 and died at his home in Monroe, February 20, 1927, aged 57 years. The son of Ezekial and Julia Roberts, he was left an orphan while still a young boy, and from that time became the creator of his own life and success.
In 1889 he was united in marriage to Nina Howard, and to this union there was born a son, Howard E. Roberts, who has been associated with his father in business in Monroe, where Mr. Roberts has spent all of his life. Mrs. Roberts passed away in 1896.
In 1898 Mr. Roberts was united in marriage to Myrtle Brownfield, who is left to mourn his loss, together with his son Howard and two grandchildren, a brother, Frank, of Hollywood, California. He also leaves a host of friends who have been associated with him in Monroe. Another brother, Verne C. died in 1919.
A man of sterling honor in business and clean life in the community, a lover of home and family, a devoted husband and father, a friend that was there when wanted, and a lover of his creator’s handiwork in nature. What more can be said or what greater heritage can a man leave after relating his whole life to one community?
