Life Story of Merrill Rexroat
Merrill Keen Rexroat, son of Abraham and Mary Rexroat was born Nov. 4, 1885 at Reasnor and passed away at the Wayne County Hospital March 21, 1967 at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Ola Dunnaway on Feb. 8, 1911. To this union 3 sons were born, Archie, Owen, and Kenneth. Most of their married life was spent in Jasper County. In 1942 they moved to Wayne County and have spent their remaining years there. In February of this year they celebrated their 56th anniversary. He was a member of the Millerton Methodist Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ola; two sons, Archie of Corydon and Kenneth of Monee, Ill.; two daughters-in-law, Madelina and Florence; one sister, Pearl McKee of Newton; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Owen Bennett, his father, mother, six sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Randolph Funeral home in Allerton Friday, March 24, 1967 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Davis Brown officiating.
Dorothy Frye accompanied Clarence Dodson as he sang favorite hymns. Pallbearers were Herman Nollen, Dale Noon, Enoch Rexroat, Donald Rexroat, Bill McKee and Rex Confield. Flower attendants were Melina Stewart and Mildred Jellison.
Burial was in the Allerton cemetery.
