Services Held
Services for Mary Katherine Rexroat were held Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Rev. Larry Gander, pastor, officiated the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mary Katherine (Mrs. David Sr.) Rexroat, passed away on Friday, July 9, 1999, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.
Mary was born at Vandalia, Iowa, November 26, 1914, the daughter of Fred C. and Mary K (Wilhelm) Birkenholz. She attended area rural schools and on October 27, 1937 was united in marriage to David Rexroat Sr. at Prairie City. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Rexroat was a lifelong Monroe and Prairie City area resident.
A memorial for Hospice of Pella has been designated by the family.
Mrs. Rexroat is survived by seven children: Charlene (Mrs. Richard) McCoy, Indianola, Carolyn (Mrs. Gary) Suplee, Monroe, JoAnn (Mrs. Kenny) Acklin, Monroe, Janet (Mrs. Gary Taylor, Lena, IL. Donna Rexroat, Monroe, Carol Rexroat, Altoona and David Jr. and wife Dorothy Rexroat of Monroe. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a brother Lawrence Birkenholz of Des Moines.
Preceding her were her husband, her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a grandson and a son-in-law.
