Services Held
Services for Donald K. Rexroat were held Monday, June 28, 1999 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Ronald Burnet, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment was in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Donald passed away June 25, 1999, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton at the age of 84.
Donald K. Rexroat, the son of Frank and Sara Strahn Rexroat, was born March 29, 1915, near Dunreath, Iowa. Don lived in and around Monroe, Iowa for most of his younger years. At the age of 26, during World War II, Don went to serve his country with the United States Army. He returned in December of 1945.
On November 6, 1946, Don was united in marriage with Grace M. Bell in Troy, Kansas. Donald and Grace farmed in Jasper County until they moved to Newton. In 1952, Don and Grace moved to Newton, Iowa, and Don was employed by the Maytag Company. He retired from the Porcelain and Paint Department in 1979.
He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton and always enjoyed his garden.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Grace M. Rexroat; his sons and their wives: Merwin K. and Kathleen Rexroat of Colona, Illinois, and Carrol and Sharolyn Wheatcraft of Newton; his daughter, Marci Palmer of Newton; his six grandchildren; one great grandson; his sisters: Marguerite Den Hoedt of Knoxville and Helen Waits of Pella; his sister-in-law: Mary Rexroat of Prairie city, and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings in infancy; two brothers: Walter and David; and two sisters: Fern and Freda.
