Life Story of Hazel Reeves
Mrs. Guy G. (Hazel) Reeves, 53, of Monroe and Prairie City communities, died Saturday in her home in Monroe.
Funeral services were held Monday in Prairie City Methodist Church.
The Rev. James Sheckler, minister of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery south of Prairie City.
Pallbearers were Leo Mullins, Bert Breen, Jr., Donald Timmins, James Timmins, Larry Wheatcraft and Lawrence Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Burkhardt, Kenneth Timmins, Michael Timmins, Robert Dale Timmins, Ronald Timmins and Paul Welcher.
Mrs. J. M. Dockum was soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. John Le Grand.
Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Van Baale and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Van Wyk were in charge of flowers.
Survivors are her husband; two children, Mrs. Ramona Mae Van Baale of Monroe and Guy Bernard of Monroe; a grandchild; and her mother, Mrs. Emma Timmins, of Monroe.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mabel) Burkhardt of Fulton, Ill., and Mrs. Cris (Marian) Talbert of Wayne City, Ill.; three brothers, George Timmins of Monroe, and Joe Timmins and John William Timmins, both of Des Moines, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert (Ardythe) Timmins of Monroe.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
The daughter of James R. and Emma Timmins, she was born November 28, 1914, in Des Moines and was graduated from Prairie City High School in 1931 and from Drake University in Des Moines in 1964.
She was married to Guy G. Reeves June 3, 1936, in Des Moines.
They resided in Prairie City until 1941 when they moved to a farm near Monroe. They moved to Monroe six years ago.
