Life Story of Paul Rees
Marion County Clerk of Court, Paul Rees, 34, died February 23 in University Hospital at Iowa City.
Rees, who was serving his second term as Clerk of Court, had been confined to a wheel chair since a childhood accident.
Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville February 25 by Dr. Leonard Deaver, pastor of the church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Rees had been active in various civic and handicapped organizations. He was a past president of the Knoxville Jaycees and was serving as vice president of the State Clerks of Court Association. He was a member of the Knoxville Recreation Commission, chairman of the public relations committee of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s ambassador, and an honorary member of the Knoxville Rotary.
He is survived by his wife, the former Delores Shipley; three sisters, Mrs. Willis (Marjory) Andrews, Mrs. John (Claudean) Avon, and Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Cooney; and three brothers, Robert, Tom and Richard, all of Knoxville; and his grandmother, Mrs. Lena Rees of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rees.
