Services Held
Services for Doris L. Rector, Monroe, were held Wednesday, October 27, 1999, at the Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor, officiated the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Doris passed away Sunday morning, October 24, 1999, at the Nelson Manor Care Center in Newton of heart failure.
The daughter of John and Elvina Ellis Klein, Doris was born May 19, 1924, in Jasper county. She was a high school graduate and attended Normal teachers training a year. She married Carroll LaVerne Rector May 23, 1948, in Zoar Church in rural Newton. Doris was a homemaker and had been a country schoolteacher. She belonged to the Monroe United Methodist Church and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.
Survivors are her husband, C. LaVerne Rector of Monroe; one daughter, Cindy and Craig Dykstra of Canon City, Colorado; one grandson, Michael Van Elgen of Georgia, Iowa; and one great grandson, Cedar Van Elgen. She is also survived by a sister, Janet Galloway of Newton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Kathy Rector on March of 1997; a brother, Clifford Klein; and a sister, Betty Klein.
Memorials in Doris’ name will be accepted.
