Robert Edward Poortinga, 88, of Norwalk died of pneumonia Friday at Regency Care Center there. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Elm Grove Cemetery here.
Mr. Poortinga was born near Monroe and had lived in the Des Moines area most of his life. He was a retired cleaner with Reliable Rugs and a member of First Baptist Church in Norwalk.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Soutard of Norwalk; three sisters, Evelyn Oneth and Doris Hart, both of Des Moines, and Inas Shelton of California; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
