Services Held
Graveside rites for Doris Alma Watson Poortinga, 74, a longtime resident of Reasnor, were held October 28, 1993 at the Hewitt Cemetery in Reasnor.
The Rev. John Morlach, pastor of the Reasnor United Methodist Church conducted services.
She died Saturday, October 23, 1993 in Sun City, Arizona, following a stroke.
Survivors are her husband, Oakley; a daughter, Marlys (Mrs. Terry) Nuese of Glendale, Arizona; a grandchild; and a sister, Irene (Mrs. Don) Immel of Charles City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William A. Watson.
Mrs. Poortinga, a homemaker and member of the Royal Neighbors, had been employed in the office at the Maytag Co. until her marriage.
The daughter of William P. and Mercy Adams Watson, she was born November 24, 1918, in Grinnell and was a 1937 graduate of Newton Community High School.
She was married to Oakley Poortinga December 9, 1945 in the Little Brown Church near Nashua.
