A 24-year-old Monroe Man, Johnny Dale Phifer, was killed Wednesday afternoon, June 24, in a tractor-car accident on Iowa 163, two miles east of Prairie City.

Phifer was thrown from the tractor into a ditch, where the tractor reportedly ran over his body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Skiff Hospital.
Ponsetto said charges of failing to stop in the assured clear distance ahead were filed against Quinn. His 1970 model car was demolished.
