Well Known Monroe Man Dies Sunday
H. A. Perrin, a resident of Monroe since 1870 and of Iowa since about 1855 died Sunday morning. He would have been 76 years old April 11 if he had lived until that date. He was born in Ohio.
He was a member of Shelladay G.A.R. Post and at the time of his death was quartermaster of the Post. He served his country in the War of the Rebellion in the Tenth Iowa Infantry. He served as postmaster at Monroe for eight years.
Mr. Perrin was a model citizen had a good soldier’s record and died as he lived - an upright, honest man. Comrades will miss him and all acquaintances remember him as one well disposed toward the right things in life. Not many of the old comrades remain to follow the body to the grave Tuesday afternoon, but silent tears will be shed as Hank A. Perrin disappears from view. His kindly deeds and good example will long be remembered.
