Services Held
Services for Margaret Marie Perkey were held Monday, January 3, 2000 at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Rev. Wayne Bekkering officiated the services. Interment of the cremains was in Dunreath Cemetery in Monroe.
Margaret Marie Perkey, age 81, passed away at Pella Regional Health Center Tuesday, December 28, 1999. She was born at Newton, Iowa, April 20, 1918, the daughter of Loran and Cornie (McDaniel) Thomason. A 1936 graduate of Monroe High School, she was united in marriage to Loren Perkey February 14, 1927, at Knoxville. They have made their home in Pella since 1945. Mrs. Perkey worked for a time as a telephone operator and later was employed at the overall factory in Pella. She had been a member of the Women’s Garment Workers Union and also served as a Campfire Leader.
Surviving is her husband Loren, daughter and son-in-law: Benita and Keith Templeton, Monroe and son James A. Perkey of Des Moines, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Bruce Thomason, Monroe and Raymond Thomason, Commerce City, CO; three sisters: Eleanor Van Haafton, Pella, Marilyn Jamison and Marjorie Schmidt, both of Newton as well as many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and infant twin sisters. A memorial for Hospice of Pella has been designated by the family.
