Life Story of Henry Peery
Henry P. Peery passed away at his home at rural Reasnor on April 26. He was a lifetime resident of this community and had reached the age of 71 years, three months and 26 days at the time of his death.
Henry was born at Galesburg on December 30, 1897, the son of John F. and Elizabeth (Kling) Peery.
On October 6, 1920, at Reasnor he was united in marriage to Grace Tool, who survives him.
Besides his wife, Grace, he is survived by his three children: Mrs. Arthur (Edith) Slegh of Prairie City; Donald E. Peery of Monroe and Kenneth F. Peery of Reasnor; a granddaughter, Carol Slegh, and two grandsons, Larry Slegh and Darrell Peery; and one brother, Elmer Perry of Monroe.
Mr. Peery was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held from the Garden Chapel in Pella on Wednesday, April 30. Rev. James Poulsen, minister of the United Methodist Church of Monroe, officiated at the services.
Rev. James Scheckler sang “Whispering Hope” and “Perfect Day” accompanied by Mrs. John Le Grand.
Casket bearers were Lawrence McReynolds, Max Sparks, Carroll Peery, Melvin Poortinga, Norman Van Zante, and Lawrence Woody.
Flower attendants were Mrs. Arie DePenning and Mrs. Carl Horman.
Interment was in the Palo Alto Cemetery in Jasper County.
