Services Held
Services for Edward “Ed” C. Peck were held Saturday, January 15, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton. Services were conducted by his niece and her husband, Beth and Dick Evans. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Edward passed away January 11, 2000, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton of an apparent heart attack.
The son of Edward C. and Lanore Winfurther Peck, Edward was born February 17, 1925, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of West High School in Madison, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin. He married Helen L. Karreman November 8, 1952, in Newton, Iowa. He has lived in Newton since 1947.
Edward was the Sports Editor for the Newton Daily News for fore than 50 years. He had been on the track team at the University of Wisconsin and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Newton; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Ruth Peck of Oak Park, Illinois; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Robert Lagace of Hamden, Connecticut; four nephews and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials for the Athletic Dept. of Donors school or Dollars for Scholars in Mr. Peck’s name are suggested.
