Pearson, Marvel Meekma – 1909-1979

Mrs. Marvel Meekma Pearson, 70, of 113 Pleasant Drive, La Porte City, Ia., died of a cardiac arrest Nov. 9 at Love County Health Center in Oklahoma. She was enroute to a winter home in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Mrs. Marvel was born Sept. 25, 1909 in Monroe to Joseph Meekma and Bernice Amos Meekma.
She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1934 and was school principal in Readlyn from 1934 until 1936.
She and John Richard Pearson were married August 23, 1936 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple moved to La Porte City in 1937, where they were in business until 1943.
They moved to Los Angeles in 1943, and returned to La Porte City in 1963, where they farmed until retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Pearson was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her husband; one brother, Wayne, of Sacramento, Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Trinity Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Gary Brewster and the Rev. Harry Erpelding, former pastor of Jesup Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery in Traer.
