Services Held
Lela Irene Patton, 60 of Newton died Friday, June 20, 1986, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in St. John’s Evangelical Cemetery, north of Newton.
Survivors are her husband, Robert; and three sons, Jesse of Newton, William of Corpus Christi, Tex., and Michael of Newhall, Calif.
Also surviving are six brothers Charles Dickerson of Hopkinsville, Ky., Donald Dickerson of Monroe, Richard Dickerson of Newton, LeRoy Dickerson of Colfax, Robert Dickerson of Houston, Tex., and Lloyd Dickerson of Monroe; and six sisters, Eugenia (Mrs. Michael) Dunn of Indianapolis, Ind., Margaret Anthony of Baytown, Tex., Lois (Mrs. Robert) Saylor and Kathryn Hewitt, both of Monroe, Carol (Mrs. George) Umbarger of Newton and Diana (Mrs. Murray) Duggan of Hurst, Tex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy, a brother, Everett, and a sister, Penny.
The daughter of Carroll F. and Jennie Ruth Dodd Dickerson, she was born Aug. 11, 1925 in Princeton, Ill. and was married Jan. 25, 1947 in Newton.
