Services for Opal F. Patterson, 82, of Newton, were held Friday, October 6, 2000, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial was in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Opal passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2000, of heart failure at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
The daughter of John and Rachel Brown Shaffer, she was born June 29, 1918, in Percy. She married Marvin C. Patterson June 12, 1937 in Newton.
Mrs. Patterson worked for the Maytag Dairy Farm for 34 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Foursquare Church of Newton.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Janice Patterson of Newton; and two sisters, Helen De Haai of Monroe, and Bulah McDaniel of Clarence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.
