Services Held
Services for Alvin Lee Parr were held Wednesday, January 3, 1996, at the Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor, officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Alvin Lee Parr, age 61, died Saturday, December 30, 1995, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born May 29, 1934, in Lucas County, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Lois Carson Parr. Mr. Parr was married to Norma Wheeler, April 6, 1958, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. He was employed by the Maytag Company at Newton for 42 years, retiring in 1992.
Surviving is his wife, Norma, of Monroe, a son and daughter in law; Tim and Charina Parr of Pella, a granddaughter, Ashley Michele Parr, Pella, and two sisters; Louise Nolin of Monroe and Marlene Evans of Thornfield, Missouri.
Also surviving are two very special friends, Dave and Dorothy Rexroat of Monroe.
Mr. Parr was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Irene Ellis and an infant son, Michael Lee Parr.
He was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church and the Local UAW at Maytag. A memorial for the church and the Monroe Emergency Unit is suggested by the family.
