Services Held
Services for Lucy Elizabeth Parker-Callison, 75, of New London, Iowa, and formerly of Wayland, were held Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Independent Bible Church of Wayland, Iowa. Pastor Robert Wolf and Pastor Roger Wilkins officiated. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Wayland.
She died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Cinics in Iowa City.
The daughter of John and Nellie Hawkins Daines, Lucy was born November 27, 1925, in Keokuk, Iowa. She received her elementary education in the Ft. Madison and Argyle Schools and later graduated from Monroe High School. In 1945, she married Joe Carson in Danville, Iowa. She later married Albert George Parker, Sr. on July 5, 1949, at Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1956. She had lived in Tallulah, Louisiana, and moved back to Iowa in 1969. During this time she lived in the Mt. Pleasant, Stockton, and Wayland communities. On September 7, 1979, she married William H. Callison in Stockton, Iowa. He survives. For the past three years, the Callisons have lived in New London. Mrs. Callison was a homemaker. She worked at the Sheaffer Pen Corporation and later was employed by the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant for 9 ½ years. She was an active member of the Wayland Independent Bible church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She enjoyed crocheting tablecloths and doilies and attending craft shows for seventeen years.
Survivors are her husband of New London; three daughters, Shirley (Stewart) Kinney of Mt. Pleasant, Sally (Tom) Haines of Mt. Union, IA, and Suzi (Terry) Blomgren of Whittier, CA; three sons, Glenn (Kathy) Carson of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Albert Parker II and David (Cindy) Parker, both of Newton. She is also survived by one brother, Dennis Daines of Hamilton, Illinois; six sisters, Betty (Roy) Timm of Omaha, Nebraska, Carlotte (Dennis) Stalder of Washington, Iowa, June Carver of Trenton, Iowa, Elizabeth (Denny) Glover of Lockridge, Iowa, Ruby Morgan of Keokuk, Iowa, and Darlene Smith of Urbandale, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; three sisters, Jackie Morgan, Rose Marie Rippenkroeger-Harry, and Margarette Lyons.
