Grace E. Palmer 90, of 500 1st St. N. died of congestive heart failure Monday, Dec. 17, at Park Centre in Newton.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. Gene Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Dollars for Scholars and may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the day of the service.
The daughter of James A. and Elizabeth J. Hummel Dimon, she was born July 5, 1911, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1929. On September 19, 1930, she married Lloyd D. Palmer in Newton. She was the office manager and cashier for Peoples Natural Gas for many years, retiring in 1976.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of First Christian Church and many bridge clubs. She enjoyed playing bridge and enjoyed birds, especially cardinals.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, L. D. and Glenda of Montezuma; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Raymond Link of Maxwell; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ivan and Imogene Dimon of Newton; a sister, Rosalie Smith of Colfax; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
