Estate Files Wrongful Death Suit
The administrator of the estate of a former Monroe man killed in an automobile accident last year, filed suit in jasper County District Court Monday.
Connie L. Tangeman, administrator of the estate of Nick James Quinby, filed the action against the estates of two other people killed in the car-tractor killed in the collision and a Monroe tavern.
On May 1, 1992, Quinby, 20, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Shane M. Miller, 25, of Monroe. Miller was traveling on county road SG6 three miles south of Prairie City when he crested a hill and collided with the rear of a tractor operated by Ernest Warrick, 74, of Prairie City. All three individuals died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
In her petition, Tangeman seeks damage against Miller’s estate. She claims his negligence in operating the vehicle caused Quinby’s premature death.
Tangeman seeks damages against Warrick’s estate due to his negligence in operating the tractor.
In addition, Tangeman is seeking damages from Mike and Gail E. Lagergren, owners of Mike’s Lounge in Monroe. She alleges in her petition the Miller was served alcoholic beverages to the point of intoxication at the lounge prior to the accident.
The petition demands that a jury trial be held. Robert Rausch of Waterloo is the attorney for the plaintiff.
