Delbert William Mohler, the son of Celia Caroline Reeves and Fredrick Alvia Mohler, was born August 5, 1914 in Marion County, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1992 at the Pella Community Hospital at the age of 78 years, one month and 15 days.
Delbert lived his entire life in the Marion County area. On June 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Grace Elizabeth Dewrose in Knoxville. He farmed with his brother in the Dunreath area until quitting in 1965. Delbert continued to drive a livestock truck until retiring in 1978.
Delbert remained active in his retirement years. He was a Kiwanis member, helped deliver Meals on Wheels, was a volunteer worker at the Senior Citizens Center and helped with the Helping Hands Food Pantry. At the time of his death, Delbert was president of the Good Sams-Wooden Shoe Chapter. He was also a member of the Good Sams-Red Rock Chapter.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Knoxville, one son, L. L. Thomas of El Sequndo, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Charlotte (Marion) Klootwyk of Bloomington, Ind., five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother, Carl Mohler of Monroe, and two nieces as well as many other friends and relatives.
