Services Held
Services for Carl Mohler, Monroe, were held Friday, May 16, 1997, at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. High Priest Robert Franks and Elder Ron Beaver officiated at the services. Burial was at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Carl Reeves Mohler, son of Fred A. and Celia Reeves Mohler, was born on April 12, 1912, in Warren County, Iowa, near Beech. He passed away May 13, 1997, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 1 day.
In 1915 the family moved to a farm west of Dunreath, Iowa, where he grew up and later farmed in partnership with his father and brother.
He was united in marriage to Florence Swanson on May 2, 1943, at Knoxville, Iowa. To this union 2 daughters were born, Judy and Carolyn.
In 1966 after the government bought the farm for the Red Rock Dam, the family moved to Monroe. He worked for the Otley-Monroe Farmers Co-op until his retirement.
Carl was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints.
During his retirement years, he continued to hunt, fish, and collect toy trains. He also pursued a new hobby of woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Delbert, and a son-in-law, Larry.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; daughters Judy Mohler of Jefferson and Carolyn Bristow of Des Moines; 2 step grandchildren Wende Barrett and Matthew Bristow of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mohler of Knoxville; and a host of relatives and friends.
