Services Held
Services for Jerry L. Moes of Marshalltown were held Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at the Chapel of Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Interment was in Sully Cemetery in Sully.
He passed away March 7, 1997, at the age of 46.
Jerry Lee Moes was the first of two sons that were born to Donald and Arlene Joann Tuinstra Moes. Jerry was born on May 23, 1950 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended the Sully Christian Grade School and Lynnville Sully High School in Sully. Soon thereafter, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked for a vending company in Des Moines and in Texas; and then in a bowling alley. It was during this time that Jerry injured himself and later became hospitalized. For the past two years, he has resided in Veterans facilities and until very recently when he moved to an apartment in Marshalltown.
Jerry is survived besides his parents, who live in Sully, by a daughter, Brandy; his brother, Bryce Alan Moes and his wife, Laura and their daughter, Kelsey of Newton.
Jerry enjoyed playing softball and did a lot of ceramics and rug weaving while residing at the Iowa soldier’s Home in Marshalltown.

Services Held
Services for Jerry L. Moes, who passed away March 17, 1997 in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he resided were held Tuesday, March 11, 1997 at the Chapel of Van-Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella with Dr. Gary D. Smith, Chaplin, officiating. Military honors were performed by the Van Veen Van Hermert American legion Post #89. Burial was in the Sully Cemetery.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association were accepted.
