Services Held
Funeral services were held for Bertha Mae Hawkins Miller on July 17, 1986. Rev. John McKinstry officiated with burial at the Silent City Cemetery at Vandalia, Iowa.
She passed away July 14 after a lengthy illness.
The daughter of J. B. and Cora Hawkins, she was born on January 9, 1908 on a farm near Runnells, Iowa.
On November 2, 1927 she was united in marriage to H. O. (Harry) Miller near Ivy, Iowa. To this union four children were born, LaVern of Des Moines, Layton of Mingo, Mary Holt of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mildred Dobbs of Colfax. Also surviving is her husband, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Pearl) Ver Dught and Ruby Ver Huel. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
