Services for Karyn Sue Metz were held August 17, 2005, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Karyn Sue Metz passed away Saturday afternoon, August 13, 2005, at her home in Newton at the age of 65.
Born January 21, 1940, in Monroe, Iowa, Karyn was the daughter of Marion Perm and Pearl Irene (Birkenholtz) Ver Dught. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School in the Class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Metz May 3, 1958, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
She worked at the Jasper County Court House in janitorial services. Karyn was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Mary Metz of Des Moines and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also survived by a sister, Gail Poston (Richard) and Rosalee Edwards both of Newton and a brother, Don and Pat Ver Dught of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on July 4, 2004; three sisters, Lillie, Mary Ann, and Margaret; and a brother, Marvin Ver Dught.
