Services Held
Leroy A. Meller, 77, of Newton since 1981, died Saturday November 3, at Skiff Medical Center of a heart attack.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Lois (Mrs. Clarence) Harmison of Denver, Colo., Judith (Mrs. Gene) Bollinger of St. Louis, Mo., and Sharon (Mrs. Donald) Clark of Centreville, Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.
Also surviving are two brothers, Mark of Fort Madison and Charles of Wever.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Gertrude Lane, Rachel Meller and Hilda Saftig.
Mr. Meller had farmed in the Burlington area until moving to a farm south of Newton in 1937. He moved to a farm in the Monroe area in 1955, retiring in 1981 when he moved to Newton.
The son of Charles and Pauline Vogelsang Meller, he was born January 12, 1913, in Burlington.
He was married to Mildred Feiertag August 20, 1925, in Burlington.
