Services Held
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 6 at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home for Peter Meindertsma, a former resident of Monroe.
He died Sunday, Feb. 3, 1985 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Irene; a son, Peter Jr. of Kailua, Hawaii; three daughters, Maxine Dodd of Grapevine, Tex., Martha Foster of West Des Moines and Judy Martin of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Also surviving are a brother and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
The son of William and Dena Schippers Meindertsma, he was born Jan. 15, 1910 in Marion County and was educated in Jasper and Marion County Schools.
He married Irene Artie Birkenholtz Jan. 1, 1938 in Newton.
