Services Held
Funeral services for Vernice Lee McWilliams, 48, a longtime Prairie City resident, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Prairie City First Reformed Church.
The Rev. Neal Busker, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery south of Prairie City.
Mrs. McWilliams died Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Survivors are her husband, Bruce; a daughter, Brenda (Mrs. Jerry) Van Wyk of Monroe; a son Brent of Prairie City; and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dean Quick and Beryl “Doc” Quick, both of Des Moines, and four sisters, Ardis Cox, Doris Quick and Jo Munoz, all of Des Moines, and Bonnie Tuttle of Greentop, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
The daughter of Russell and Opal Carter Quick, she was born Jan. 13, 1941 in Monroe and was married to Bruce McWilliams Nov. 27, 1959 in Des Moines.
