Services Held
Funeral services for James Kenneth McKenzie, age 80, were on Wednesday, January 13, 1993 at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home. Mr. McKenzie, of Monroe, passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Sunday, January 10, 1993.
Dr. John Nipper, pastor of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines officiated the services. Interment was in the Silent City Cemetery.

Memorials for the School Museum at Harvey have been suggested by the family.

Born at Harvey, Iowa, James Kenneth McKenzie, was born on March 12, 1912, the son of James Allen and Dora Brown McKenzie. He was educated in the area schools and graduated from the Harvey High School in 1930. On November 18, 1933, he was united in marriage to Carol Brubaker at Tracy, Iowa. They came to Monroe and settled in the Warren Grove area, where he was employed in the coalmine. Later he was employed in building construction with several companies including Morgan Construction, Bob Downing, and the John Eilers Company. They lived in Des Moines from 1960-69 and Indianola from 1969-79, when they returned to Monroe.
Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife, Carol; a daughter and son-in-law Dixie and Allen Norton of Des Moines; two grandchildren Beverly Windust and her husband Thomas and Bob Norton, and three great grandchildren Jessica and Erica Windust and Jennifer Norton. Also surviving are two sisters, Violet McCarthy, Denver, Colorado, and Elsie McKenzie, Des Moines, and a brother, John R. McKenzie of Newton.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister Margaret Johnson.
