Services for Lois McDaniel, 71 of 3529 Twenty-Seventh St., who died at Mercy Hospital Medical Center Saturday following a stroke, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Westover Funeral Home. A private family burial observance will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Marion County and lived in Des Moines for 25 years. She retired in 1980 as an emergency room ward secretary at Broadlawns Hospital. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and taught in central Iowa.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Sorlien of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Michelle Blodgett of Des Moines; two sisters, Lenore Anderson of Omaha, Neb., and Elaine Koch of Wellsburg; a brother, Howard Greasing of Spirit Lake; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where family members will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Services Held
Services for Lois McDaniel, a Des Moines resident and former teacher in the Monroe school system, were held in Des Moines on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1985, with burial in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Mrs. McDaniel died on Saturday, Nov. 23rd at a Des Moines hospital after suffering a stroke.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mason McDaniel. Among her survivors are two daughters and five grandchildren.
