SUMMIT - Mrs. Ike Mc Cuen passed away at her home Friday evening, June 10, 1966, at the age of 102 years, 11 months and 5 days. The centenarian lady had her wish - that she would never have to leave her beloved farm home. Relatives and friends made this possible. She had been bedfast several months and had day and night care.
Had Mrs. Mc Cuen lived until July 5, 1966 she would have been 103 years old. She was born July 5, 1863 near Fifield in a log cabin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom De Moss.
As a young girl she gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized near Red Rock, Iowa.
Married to Ike Mc Cuen, who preceded her in death in 1928, they lived since 1913 on the Mc Cuen farm on the Jasper-Marion County line. This farm has been in the Mc Cuen family for 108 years.
Her father, mother and all her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived only by nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Services pending.
